This year, we have been nominated for the Education Project of the Year in the AV Awards.

It is very unusual for a University to be nominated on their own - it is normally a commercially driven award.
The nomination is for our work on Live Streaming of events, and particularly around graduation ceremonies.
Our service is based on consumer 3G and 4G technology. The video signal from the event is encoded and split over five 3G or 4G transmitters (from different network operators) which were then recombined and decoded back at the University prior to entering the University’s streaming infrastructure. Similar technology is used by TV News organisations to get live reports and footage out of difficult environments.
The decision is made on 26th September - we await the news.
